This week I have been busy in rehearsals for Trinity Laban’s Symphony Orchestra’s winter concert, as principal 2nd violin.
Tomorrow evening we will be performing a programme of contemporary British music at Blackheath halls under the direction of conductor Matthew Coorey.
This week has been a huge learning curve for me as it is my first time being principal of a large section and it has meant a lot of work outside rehearsals as well as in. I was lucky enough to get guidance from the principal of the London Philharmonic orchestra in leading which helped immensely. Especially as the works we’re performing are very rhythmically challenging and have no room for a lapse in concentration!
